Improving accelerometric data dissemination (NA5)

Within NERIES our group aims at a European scale access to accelerometric data. Currently, the group is working with a concept in which local databases, combined with data exchange protocols, allow access to the data. A core group of institutes intends to implement this system consisting of an on-line accessible database with all relevant metadata. The basis concept consists of three interrelated elements:

(i)    the different local on-line accessible waveform data-archives,
(ii)   the database with ground motion parameters, and
(iii)  the centralised database containing detailed information of the stations.

Currently, we have a draft stations database (figure 2). The partner-networks are implementing accelerometric databases and software packages are being developed aiming at an early prototype at the end of 2007. Within NERIES, an open workshop for all European institutes running accelerometric networks was organised in March 2008 in Grenoble, France.
