Distributed Archive of Historical Earthquake Data (NA4)

Catalogues of historical earthquakes extending back up to 1000 years in the past are available in many countries of the European-Mediterranean region, with various degrees of completeness and accuracy. We aim at improving this situation by establishing the required tools leading to the compilation of a comprehensive, digital macroseismic intensity database for the largest European eathquakes and a validated and homogeneous European parametric earthquake catalogue for earthquakes with Magnitudes larger then 5. The main focus will be devoted to data from before 1900.
