NERIES: Network of Research Infrastructures for European Seismology

NERIES is an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (I3) project in the Sixth Framework Program (FP6) of the European Commission (EC), aiming at networking the European seismic networks, improving access to data, allowing access to specific seismic infrastructures and pursuing targeted research developing the next generation of tools for improved service and data analysis. More information..

NERIES activities are coordinated with other related EC-projects and global projects.

European Plate Observatory System (EPOS)
The NERIES project is a crucial element in the concept and preparation phase of EPOS, a Research Infrastructure and E-science for data and observatories on Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Surface Dynamics and Tectonics.

Current status
NERIES is currently in its third year. The 2nd Annual Report has been delivered
to the EC in July 2008 and is being evaluated by the EC. The 1st Annual Report
(1 June 2006-31 May 2007) and several deliverables are available here.

Meetings and workshops
NERIES organizes regularly open focussed workshops and meetings. The second Annual Meeting, providing a full overview of all activities, took place in Utrecht, The Netherlands, June 30 - July 2, 2008.

Available grants
NERIES provides grants for specific research at five European research facilities.
