European Seismological Reference Model (JRA1)

Develop a European seismological reference model, specifying all relevant parameters (velocities, densities etc.) on a Euro-Med level. Improve hypocenter location accuracy and the understanding of the crust and upper mantle in the Euro-Med region. Coordinator: Andrea Morelli, INGV Bologna, Italy.

Shear-wave speed of earth models s20a (left, Ekström & Dziewonski,1998) and s20rts (right, Ritsema and van Heijst, 2000) at 100 km depth. Colorsindicate percentage variations with respect to global average. About 20 P and Ssuch wave speed models are cataloged (see inventory report below).
