NERIES is an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (I3) project in the Sixth Framework Program (FP6) of the European Commission (EC), aiming at networking the European seismic networks, improving access to data, allowing access to specific seismic infrastructures and pursuing targeted research developing the next generation of tools for improved service and data analysis. NERIES activities are coordinated with other related EC-projects and global projects.
Mid-term review
Prof Göran Ekström has succesfully reviewed the NERIES project. The overal impression of Göran Ekström is 'that NERIES is a well-designed project that is well-managemed, and that is, so far, a great success'.
European Plate Observatory System (EPOS)
The NERIES project is a crucial element in the concept and preparation phase of EPOS, a Research Infrastructure and E-science for data and observatories on Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Surface Dynamics and Tectonics.
Current status
NERIES is currently in its third year. The 2nd Annual Report has been delivered and is approved by the EC in November 2008. The Annual Reports are available in 'Documents'. The advanced payment for the third year is excpected to come shortly (December or January 2008).
Meetings and workshops
NERIES organizes regularly open focussed workshops and meetings. Yearly, an Annual Meeting is organized, providing a full overview of all activities.
Available grants
NERIES provides grants for specific research at five European research facilities.
